The Danger Ensemble

Brisbane

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR: Steven Mitchell Wright
GENERAL MANAGER: Katherine Quigley
ARTISTIC ASSOCIATE: Chris Beckey

The Danger Ensemble are unashamedly children of the hyper-visual iWorld. They make theatre with a vision for the future, a love for the art form combined with an insatiable obsession with exploration of theatrical form and a steadfast commitment to questioning what theatre is now and re-visioning it for the future.

Born in 2007, their on-stage debut was the theatrical component of infamous musician Amanda Palmer’s Spiegeltent residency at Edinburgh Fringe. The Magic Tent Tour had subsequent showings across Australia, which, in turn lead to the Who Killed Amanda Palmer tour, which toured across UK, Europe, America, Canada and Australia. From that point The Danger Ensemble were destined to take their place as l’enfant terrible punk-theatre company of Australia.

The Danger Ensemble’s have created interactive street based work In Your Shoes, The Hamlet Apocalypse, performed with avant-freak-poet band Ghost Boy with Golden Virtues and created work for the Boston Pops Orchestra and Rothbury Music Festival.  Under the stewardship of Artistic Director, Steven Mitchell Wright and General Manager Katherine Quigley, The Danger Ensemble is not a fixed group of actors/artists, rather a transient collective with a shared training background and philosophy for creation; each bringing to the company an extensive array international experience in their chosen fields.

In 2012, The Danger Ensemble will be creating several new works including Sons of Sin, Children of War, iWar and Loco Maricon Amor, collaborating with several presenting partners including The Brisbane Festival, Queensland Theatre Company, La Boite Theatre, Metro Arts and Vanguard Youth Theatre.
